Handspun Lace Shawl

Remember the yak/silk I showed you?
Well, after I finished spinning it, I plied it.
Then, I knitted it following the pattern, Inflorescence, on page 13 of Sock-Yarn Shawls.
I just finished blocking it. It's so soft and pretty. And I can't remember when the last time was that I used any of my handspun! Let's do it, again!!!

  2. Wow, that's quite lovely!!! Well done, and I bet it feels so nice against the skin. I was just thinking that I need to make time to spin each day....

  3. Thankyou for popping over and commenting on my blog. What a beautiful shawl. I think I made some woven spaced warp scarves with handspun singles last year but I have trouble matching the handspun to the project unless I plan before hand that I'm spinning for something specific. I get so much enjoyment from just doing the spinning that I don't let it worry me, I believe I will be hit by a bolt of inspiration one day!

    1. I'm trying to get brave enough to weave with my singles. My one experience brought me close to cutting everything off the loom and tossing it. But that was warping front to back, so maybe back to front would be better. And as for the spinning, up 'til now, I've rarely done anything with mine afterwards. Send that bolt of inspiration my way!!!~

  4. Hey, I have a question for you. I noticed that you're spinning on a Majacraft wheel? I was thinking of saving my pennies for a Rose wheel and I was wondering what you think of your wheel?

    1. Mine is a Suzie Pro and I ADORE her! I had an Ashford before her that was my starter wheel. I wore it out. I wanted a double treadle and I'm glad I got that. The treadling is smooth and quiet. The wood feels like fine furniture. It's great for good body mechanics, because the wheel sits directly in front of me. I also got their stylus for spinning finer threads. There are some youtubes that show how to use it. Even with that, the mother of all gets angled to the side of my body, so that I'm still spinning facing forward.
The only thing I can't do with Suzie is spin while my hubby is driving. So, I put my name on the waiting list for a pocket wheel!
